I think this video describes the sale in a nutshell. For those of you that frequent Reddit Gaming, then you have seen all praise being directed towards Steam, Valve, and Gabe Newell (Valve Coporation co-founder). In essence, Valve is putting on a huge summer video game sale, which will run from July 12th to July 22nd.
This is the type of stuff I like to see in gaming. Steam not only has great prices on individual games (such as the original Portal for only $2.49), but they also have massive game bundles for about $50, which include a ton of different game title. For the average price of a new game, Steam has given gamers the opportunity to cash in and really enjoy a lot of great games. It really bothers me that gaming has become so expensive and seems like something that only people with a lot of money can do. Here at G&C, we applaud Steam for supporting the affordability of games and we hope more gaming companies have sales of their own!
