Pokemon clone hits the iOS app store

We see video game clones on the app store all the time. Whether they are based on triple A titles or other popular iOS games, you could probably find dozens upon dozens of rip-offs. This time, however, some one has stooped to a new low and created one of the most blatant Pokemon clones I have ever seen. Titled “Little Masters”, the player becomes “a master of monsters who captures and trains monsters to battle the others” (taken from the games description).

Does that sound like Pokemon? If that doesn’t convince you, here’s a photo that they put up on the app store:

While the game doesn’t use the title or any names from the Pokemon franchise, the developers clearly used it as a little inspiration. I can’t imagine that the game will stay up for much longer, so grab it while you still can. Little Monsters is free to download.

  1. I definitely wouldn’t get them If I had a choice between Pokemon and Little Monsters. I guess maybe they’re aimed at slightly younger kids?
Maybe people who had bought all the Pokemon games already might buy this game?

After playing through a little bit of the game, it is apparent that it was influenced by Dragonvale (a popular iOS game) and Pokemon. It’s not necessarily aimed at a younger audience, but it is definitely aimed at fans of both franchises. I’ll probably have a review up for it soon, but it’s pretty much harmless in terms of violating any rights since the developer isn’t making any money from it (as far as I can tell).
