I really don’t have that much time to play console games during the school year. Even with games like Borderlands 2, Assassin’s Creed 3, and Halo 4 out on store shelves, I just can’t find the time to really sit down and play a solid hour or two of my favorite video games. That’s where my iPhone come in. Aside from satisfying my addiction to Twitter and Instagram, I use my phone to get a quick gaming fix through out the day. There are thousands (maybe even millions!) of games on the app store, so trying to find some good ones can be challenging.
If you’re like me, and can’t find something worth playing, you’re in luck! These are my top five favorite iOS games that are definitely worth checking out.
5) Jetpack Joyride
Jetpack’s concept is simple: fly through a laboratory with a jet pack and avoid missiles, zappers, and other dangers while trying to grab as many coins as you can. It’s a goofy game, but it’s extremely addicting. There’s also a seemingly endless supply of upgrades and customizable features, making it even harder to put the game down. Jetpack Joyride is free on the iOS app store; there’s literally no reason not to download this game.
4) Spell Sword
For all those RPG lovers out there, this game is for you. Spell Sword mixes old-school graphics with intense, arena-style combat. Each level has multiple different missions to accomplish, awarding the player with gems to upgrade character stats, spell cards (which aid in combat), or special coins used to purchase armor. It’s fun, fast, and and free.
3) Kumo Lumo
I assure you that you will not play a game more adorable than Kumo Lumo. You play as a cloud (named Kumo Lumo) who must protect his world from alien invaders, who are trying to burn the forests, by using rain and lightning. The gameplay is simple and the art is beautiful. It’s a very under-appreciated game that deserves a lot of attention.
2) Punch Quest
Endless runners seem to be taking the App Store by storm lately. Punch Quest stands out from the crowd by blending the upgrades of Jetpack Joyride with awesome old-school graphics. It’s also a great way to let off some steam without actually punching anything yourself.
1) Angry Birds Star Wars
This is the only game on my list that actually costs money, but it’s worth the $0.99 price tag. This is the best Angry Birds title yet. Each bird is a different Star Wars character that has unique and powerful abilities. It also features some of the best levels and challenges to date. It’s less than one dollar, and with free updates soon to come, it’s a must have title on the App Store right now.
