The original Sly Cooper video game, developed by Sucker Punch Studios, was released in September 2002. 12 years later, an animated Sly Cooper movie will be making its way to a big screen near you. The film is set to release in 2016 and is in development by Sony.
Featuring a stealthy, staff-weilding raccoon, Sly uses the “Thievius Raccoonus“, a book passed down within his family containing the covert secrets of thievery. In the past few years, video game movies seem to be either hit or miss. The film seems to either be criticized as an unoriginal idea or praised by fans who love the series. However, I think a Sly Cooper movie is a smart idea for Sony. Fans of the video game series will want to see Sly on the big screen while children will be attracted by an animated movie. From the trailer, it appears this film will have an enticing combination of both action and witty humor, making this a must-see for its 2016 release.
