Boston will be hosting this year’s Pop Culture Expo on Memorial Day Weekend (May 24-25), which highlights the joys and excitement of all things pop culture! Video games, cosplay, comic books, collectibles, celebrity guests, and more will be present at this convention. We had the pleasure of interviewing Event Organizer, Gary Sohmers, who gave us a bit more detail about what can be expected at the Expo. 1. What Is the Pop Culture Expo?
The Pop Culture Expo is a celebration of all the things that attract, amaze and entertain fans including Celebrities, Film, Music, Cosplay, Video Games, Robots, Stuff and People.
2. Where and When is the Convention + What are ticket costs?
The Shriners Auditorium in Wilmington, MA is easily located at exit 39 of Route 93, just a few miles north of Boston with lots of Free Parking. Tickets in advance online are $15 per day or $25 for 2 days, and they are $5 higher at the door. Tickets can be purchased here.
3. What types of activities for gaming, anime, and comic books will be there?
A large video game area is set up with vintage and modern gaming systems, along with head to head tournament action in numerous games. There will also be sanctioned Magic The Gathering play, along with vintage pinball and arcade machines on free play.
4. Should I dress up for the Expo?
There are costume contests for cash prizes in adult, child and Team categories plus our own Create-A-New-Superhero contest where the contestants need to have an original character, costume and back story. There will a giant Pose Zone for people who want to be photographed and for photographers to snap away.
5. Will there be celebrity guests at the Expo?
Our celebrity line-up is from Movies, TV and Music including stars of Game of Thrones, Supernatural, Futurama, Ghostbusters, Being Humand and Pete Best of The Beatles among 25 celebrities attending the show.
