Dwayne Johnson confirmed via Twitter he will be joining DC Comic’s and Warner Brother’s production of Shazam as Black Adam. After months of rumors, Johnson accepted the DC’s plan to produce the Shazam film, written by Darren Lemke.
Out to clear his name as a villain, Johnson plays an anti-hero with the powers of six mythological figures– Solomon, Hercules, Atlas, Zeus, Achilles and Mercury. Guess what that spells out? Winner, winner– SHAZAM. Black Adam is Shazam’s nemesis who also possesses similar powers.
Shazam, also known as Captain Marvel was created in 1939 by artist C.C. Beck and writer Bill Parker. Captain Marvel was the most popular superhero in the 1940s even outselling Superman!
Alter ego Bill Batson transforms into his superhero self by proclaiming “Shazam,” which will definitely be interesting to see on modern day silver screen.
