In the past few years, we have seen the launch of the DC New 52, the relaunch with Marvel NOW!, and countless new series released by Image.  Starting in June, Dark Horse Comics will be joining the ranks with their version, Starting Points:

Starting Points was initiated in response to feedback that Dark Horse Comics received at this year’s ComicsPRO annual meeting.  When walking into a comic shop, the shear quantity of series that publishers produce is a problem inhibiting many new readers from trying new stories.  Where to start, what do I try, what are these about, what happened in the last issue, are all very valid questions to bring up.  And, with each comic costing $3 or $4 each, people want to be confident before making a purchase.

This is where Starting Points will help new readers.  Each month, Dark Horse Comics will put the nifty Starting Points logo on the cover of a Previews issue to highlight an ongoing or long-running series, indicating that the specific issue is a great place to start reading.  Not only that, but Dark Horse Comics will be offering retailers an additional 10% discount for orders exceeding 110% of the previous issue.

The Starting Points initiative will be starting in June with Abe Sapien #13,Captain Midnight #12
