LEGO announced that they would be accepting submissions on the website Cuusoo for a potential Doctor Who set. Several projects are gaining support, but Cuusoo stated that the first one to reach 10,000 supporters takes priority.

A collaborative effort by GlenBricker and Kaminoan gained the support of 10,000 fans, and as a result LEGO must officially consider and review their submission. This proposal includes the suggestion of 5 Minifigures, K-9, and 3 Daleks (made of bricks). They also suggest having a TARDIS and a TARDIS console. Several characters are available so that fans can take a poll of their favorites. These include Rose Tyler, Jack Harkness, Amy Pond and River Song, just to name a few. Several regenerations of the Doctor are also included in the poll as well as the addition of a Cyberman and a Weeping Angel.

The review process will be conducted between May and September, but for all we know LEGO has been secretly developing a set due to the large interest. The review board is composed of a range of designers and modelers to determine if the project meets the company’s high standards. If the project is a “go” then it will enter the development phase, where the product is created, marketed and prepped for release. Creating this set is viable for the company because there are no competitors in possession of the Construction Toy license for Doctor Who.

Fans are eager to hear the result of LEGO’s decision. New ideas continue to appear on various websites, and LEGO would be wise to listen to demanding Doctor Who fans.
