Before Batman, there was Gotham.
Fox looks to reveal a new chapter in the Batman saga with the pre-commissioner life of James Gordon. The network seems to be trying to sell a Batman series without Batman? Part crime drama, part superhero origins, fans get to see their favorite icons in the corrupt streets of Gotham City, from The Penguin to Catwoman and Two-Face and The Joker…. as teenagers.
“Everyone knows the name Commissioner Gordon. He is one of the crime world’s greatest foes, a man whose reputation is synonymous with law and order. But what is known of Gordon’s story and his rise from rookie detective to Police Commissioner?”
After the trailer debut, fans are curious to see where the FOX creators go with the Gotham story, as the trailer depicts the city in all it’s rough shape glory. Personally, I accept the new characters, the development of the infamous villains into their iconic personas, even Jada Pinkett Smith with her neon pink hair (I see what they did there) because Fish Mooney is a high class gangster name.
However, I just can’t seem to take Richard Kid seriously as the sleazy Mayor of Gotham, Aubrey James, when all I hear is the sidekick antagonist Grasshopper from A Bug’s Life. Perhaps I am alone on this, but once you hear it, you can’t un-hear it!
The air date for Gotham is yet to be announced but FOX plans to premiere it in the 2014-2015 season.
