Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Major Championship Hits Boston This Weekend

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, better known as CS:GO, comes to Boston this weekend for its latest Major Championship.

This coming weekend, January 26-28, ELEAGE will be hosting its second Major Championship in two years featuring one of the most popular competitive games of all time, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. This event is featuring all the major teams and is sure to be a great show of competitive gaming.

The ELEAGE Major: Boston tournament, hosted at Boston’s Agganis Arena, has had its preliminary rounds all week along, but the major championship will take this weekend. Tickets are still available for the event [LINK] but the tournament can be viewed by anyone on ELEAGE’s Twitch channel.

ELEAGUE Adds CS:GO Player Sean ‘SeanGares’ Gares & In-Arena Emcee Alex ‘Goldenboy’ Mendez to Commentary Team for Tournament’s Final Stage

Turner and IMG’s ELEAGUE will host the thrilling conclusion to the first CS:GO Major Championship of 2018 – The ELEAGUE Major: Boston – with live coverage from Boston’s Agganis Arena presented on Twitch, beginning Friday, Jan. 26, at 10 a.m. ET. Eight of the initial 24 teams remain in contention for the title of World Champion, and will face off in a single elimination bracket, playing best-of-three map matches until a victor emerges. ELEAGUE will award the largest share of the event’s $1 million dollar prize pool to the winning team.

Live Programming Schedule
The first day of competition on Friday, Jan. 26, will include the initial three quarterfinal matches, with the last quarterfinal and both semifinal matches set for Saturday, Jan. 27, at 10 a.m. Live coverage of the Grand Final match on Sunday, Jan. 28, will begin at Noon and feature two hours of special pre-match programming including:

The ELEAGUE Major: Pro-Am Challenge: Casters James Bardolph and Daniel ‘DDK’ Kapadia will serve as opposing captains, each drafting a team that will include a commentator and select professional players. The two sides will face off in a fun, lighthearted single map exhibition match.

Special Preview of ELEAGUE | Road to The Boston Major: Fans will be able to screen a special preview of the premiere episode of ELEAGUE | Road to the Boston Major, a five-part feature series set to debut Friday, Feb. 9, on TBS. The series will offer viewers complete behind-the-scenes access as it tells the stories of five teams and their players in pursuit of glory at The ELEAGUE Major: Boston.

Live Event Experience
ELEAGUE will provide a number of unique opportunities for fans attending the three-day New Champions stage in Boston including the Fan Experience, produced by IMG LIVE. The Fan Experience will feature on-site, interactive activities including CS:GO-themed scavenger hunts, CS:GO digital poster personalization, VR opportunities and daily chances to win premium prizes. In addition to receiving premium gifts each day of the Major, fans will also get a first look at new ELEAGUE merchandise and the opportunity to meet their favorite teams and players during meet and greets. In addition, attendees can play Jackbox Games’ Guesspionage Live, a crowd-sourced polling game accessible by entering jackbox.live in the browser of mobile devices.

Fans can purchase three-day tickets to The ELEAGUE Major: Boston at ELEAGUE.com/major. Each fan in attendance will receive a premium gift bag, as well as a CS:GO pin from Valve’s all-new Series 3 collection.

Expanded Commentary Team to Include Sean ‘SeanGares’ Gares and Alex ‘Goldenboy’ Mendez
ELEAGUE will feature star CS:GO player Sean ‘SeanGares’ Gares as a guest analyst for The New Champions stage. Gares, appearing for the first time as an ELEAGUE analyst, will provide the unique perspective of a player who previously competed in The ELEAGUE Major: Boston as the in-game leader of Misfits.

In addition, Alex ‘Goldenboy’ Mendez will serve as the in-arena emcee for The New Champions stage of the Major. Mendez, who last appeared on the ELEAGUE commentary team for The ELEAGUE Cup: Rocket League, will channel the energy of the live audience as he introduces the teams set to compete.
