By some miracle, Twitch successfully defeated blue in 16 days, 7 hours, 45 minutes, and 33 seconds:
We reported on Twitch’s progress a few days ago, but the collective gaming experiment on a Pokémon Red emulator was a success! Over the weekend, Twitch Plays Pokemon received an influx in attention when players finally reached Victory Road and soon after, the doorstop of the Elite Four. Once they arrived, they continually battled the Elite Four, bathing in the EXP, and quickly leveling up.
Considering the anarchy that occurred through leveling up and selecting moves, Twitch Plays Pokemon was actually a formidable opponent as soon as they arrived. After only a few tries, Red made it to the infamous Lance. However, players cheered when the All-Terrain Venemoth (ATV) used Disable on Lance’s Dragonite, disabling its only attack-move, Hyper Beam. This was probably one of the most exciting moments of the entire game, and although Red was defeated, it showed the fun that Twitch Plays Pokemon brought to everyone. A few dozen tries at the Elite Four later, Red finally defeated Blue.
What is next for Twitch? Well, for those that may not have heard, they have already moved on to a Pokémon Crystal emulator, which can be watched and played here. The helpful Google Doc has also been updated to give a more detailed view at the progress.
