One of the longest beloved characters in the Marvel Universe, the legendary Wolverine, will soon be knocking on Death’s doorstep.  Marvel recently released the above teaser indicating that Wolverine will be meeting his demise  in the current Wolverine series:

In a recent story arc by Paul Cornell, entitled Killable, Wolverine has been left without his healing factor due to an alien virus.  This is the first time that the Avenger/X-Man has been left in such a vulnerable state.  Kris Anka has joined Cornell to take on the 3 Months To Die arc, which will start in June.  2 Months to Die will follow in July, 1 Month to Die in August, with Wolverine’s ultimate demise in the September issue.

Like any major superhero death, we here at G&C can only assume that this is another temporary death, with Wolverine somehow coming back to the 616 Universe in the future.  It was just over a year ago that we saw Peter Parker’s death in Amazing Spider-Man #700, the Death of Superman in the early 90s, and many others who have all returned at some point.  In the current Marvel series, Wolverine is in so many stories, that it is almost impossible to completely sever all ties and leave him out for good.  Nevertheless, we are excited to see how Wolverine ultimately goes and the implications it has on other characters in the Marvel Universe.
