With the release of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale this past November, gamers have been asking for one thing: more characters. Well, with a recent announcement of a new DLC, PlayStation gamers are ecstatic to hear that the Battle Royale cast will be expanding. I blogged earlier about the current character list and this game even made my ‘Best of 2012’ blog. Keep reading to learn what is in store.
This is a game that has a lot of potential. It is fun, but it needs something to keep players coming back. After playing for a few weeks, I am beginning to find the consistent sideways ‘finishing move’ attacks to get a bit repetitive. I have continually said that I hope to see more characters and I am also wishing that there were more levels that allowed you to fall of the edge. In similar style fighting games, being able to stay on the map and not fly off into oblivion are key aspects to the game. The only true way to defeat people in Battle Royale is to land a direct hit of an ultra-powerful finishing move. Although the gameplay is fun and addicting, I was beginning to lose interest.
And just like that, we get hit with what I was hoping for: Downloadable Content (DLC)!
First, I proudly introduce Kat from Gravity Rush, which is a popular game for the PS Vita. Kat’s fighting technique involves bending gravity to defeat her opponents, so I can imagine that her fighting style will be very appealing to players who have mastered the game’s mechanics.
Second, Emmett Graves will also be joining us. This character is from Starhawk for the PS3. Emmett Graves is a weapons powerhouse, so players who enjoy long-range fighting will appreciate this character.
What could be better than 2 new characters for Battle Royale? Did I mention the DLC is free for the first 2 weeks?! Beginning February 12th, these characters will be free to download off the PlayStation Network. You surely don’t want to miss out on these. I hope to see more DLC in the future. I am pleased to see PlayStation rewarding its players with a free DLC. Small gestures like a few free characters really win me over. Hats off to you Sony! I still have my fingers crossed to see Spyro and Crash.
