Jesus, that was a mouthful. Anyway, the newest DLC for Assassin’s Creed 3 dropped yesterday. It is part one in a three part “What If” story line, wherein Washington never gives up his power, and becomes the new King of America. It is named Infamy, and the launch trailer makes it look pretty damn interesting.
But are a non-canon story and an intriguing trailer enough to draw your attention throughout all of the to be released packs?
PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale
With the release of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale this past November, gamers have been asking for one thing: more characters. Well, with a recent announcement of a new DLC, PlayStation gamers are ecstatic to hear that the Battle Royale cast will be expanding. Two weeks ago, Gearbox released its second DLC for Borderlands 2; Mr. Torgue’s Campaign of Carnage. Mr. Torgue is holding a tournament to find the biggest badass on Pandora, and open a new vault, and he wants you to enter the competition! The DLC promised explosions, loot-splosions, and more badassitude than you could handle. What we ended up getting were some extremely lackluster missions with one of the funniest characters I’ve seen in video games.
You’ve finished Borderlands 2, played with the Mechromancer, and claimed Pandora as your personal stomping ground. All the quests are done, and you can finally kick back and relax. That is, unless you haven’t heard the story of Captain Blade’s buried treasure, and experienced Gearbox’s newest DLC for Borderlands 2; Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate’s Booty. If not, allow me to regale you with this swashbuckling tale.
Only three weeks after its release of Borderlands 2, Gearbox Software came out with their first piece of downloadable content: Gaige, the Mechromancer. She is the fifth playable character on the return trip to Pandora, and she brings a whole new set of skills to the table.
New Skyrim DLC: Heathfire
Well, the latest expansion for Skyrim came out on the Xbox 360 this week: The home moding DLC “Hearthfire”. Non-PC gamers around the world rejoiced “Finally! We can create cool houses and epic hideouts too!” I myself was amongst the jovial chorus, so I happily shelled out five dollars and sat by my TV, face aglow, as it downloaded. And much like a child who opens a box on Christmas morning only to find it filled with socks, the result was not what I expected.
