Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Annual 2012 Cover by IDW

Back when I was in my prime age of about 8 years old, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were my jam.  I used to watch the television show, play with the action figures, and run around with a cardboard Christmas wrapping paper roll pretending it was a bo staff.  Today, about 50% of my nerdy shirts are TMNT related.  Heck, the drinking glasses in my apartment even have ninja turtle characters on them.  I recently decided to crack open a can of nostalgia by reading Teenage Mutant Ninja Annual 2012.

Happy Halloween!  For those that survived the Frankenstorm/Hallowcaine, you might be looking to read a new comic to take your mind off of having to pick up all the branches in your yard.  If so, you should check out Haunted Horror, which immediately put me into the Halloween spirit.

I have to say, Godzilla: The Half-Century War has surprised me. I never expected a Godzilla comic series to have such a strong narrative with likable characters and an interesting story; the first two issues set this series up to be something great. However, with too much going at once and a massive, a mostly unexplained time-gap, The Half-Century War #3 leaves the reader wanting more.

In honor of the upcoming 100th issue of Invincible, the critically acclaimed superhero series by Robert Kirkman, I’m going to read it all for the first time. All of it. My journey will take me through hardcover collections, trade paperbacks, single issues, and more. My goal: to read and review the entire series before issue 100 drops in January. To see Part 1 of the Complete Invincible Review, look here.  Each Wednesday I’ll be posting the newest installment in the series, so stay tuned.

Fear not, True Believers! As we reported a couple weeks ago, The Amazing Spider-Man will be coming to end this December with issue #700. Recently announced, however, is the new title to pick up where Amazing leaves off: The Superior Spider-Man, set to debut in January of 2013. It’s the same creative team you know and love, but with a new take on the iconic character.

Zan and Jayna.  Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver.  Professor Charles Xavier and Cassandra Nova.  Psylocke and Captain Britain.  Some are good, some are evil, and some hang out with a blue monkey named Gleek.  Twins are everywhere in comic books, and it turns out I’ve got one, too.  Cooler yet, my twin brother Shaun loves Comicology as much as I do, and he’s hoping to provide a place for a dialogue on and deconstruction of the comics industry with his new project: “ComicsTheory.”
