I’ll admit it, I am a little biased; I love the “Bravest Warriors!” If you’ve never heard of them before, “Bravest Warriors” is a crazy fun cartoon created by Pendleton Ward (the same guy from “Adventure Time”) and available on the Cartoon Hangover channel from YouTube. The episodes are each five minutes long and seriously you guys, you owe it to yourself to go check out that awesomeness before you read any further. Seriously. Go.

Back in November, gameandcomic.com reviewed the first volume of Archeologists of Shadows, The Resistance. We were big fans, particularly noting the book’s fantastic action sequences and dreamlike art. (Read Andrew’s full review of A.O.S. Vol. 1 here.) But is the second installment of Septagon Studios’ most ambitious project, Once a Nightmare, any good? (more…)
The top superheroes of 2012 are… Aquaman and Hawkeye?!

For over 70 years, Aquaman had been lauded by DC Comics as one of their most singularly important character properties alongside icons like Superman and Batman. Yet for all of DC’s posturing fans had never seemed to frame Aquaman as anything more than a silly, overrated merman who talks to fish. Marvel’s Hawkeye, with his gaudy purple uniform and yawn-worthy bow-and-arrow gimmick, had suffered a similar stigma throughout the years. If you could not make it to New York Comic Con last month, you missed out on two great comic art shows: the 2nd Annual NYCC Charity Art Auction to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and DC Entertainment’s “Darkness & Light” exhibition and education tour to benefit relief efforts in the Horn of Africa. However, if you’re in the New England area you may be inclined to visit the Norman Rockwell Museum in Stockbridge, MA. Showing now until February 24 is famed comic illustrator and painter Alex Ross’ exhibit, “Heroes & Villains.” (more…)
Checking out ComicsTheory

Zan and Jayna. Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. Professor Charles Xavier and Cassandra Nova. Psylocke and Captain Britain. Some are good, some are evil, and some hang out with a blue monkey named Gleek. Twins are everywhere in comic books, and it turns out I’ve got one, too. Cooler yet, my twin brother Shaun loves Comicology as much as I do, and he’s hoping to provide a place for a dialogue on and deconstruction of the comics industry with his new project: “ComicsTheory.”
