I think this video describes the sale in a nutshell. For those of you that frequent Reddit Gaming, then you have seen all praise being directed towards Steam, Valve, and Gabe Newell (Valve Coporation co-founder). In essence, Valve is putting on a huge summer video game sale, which will run from July 12th to July 22nd.
When word got out that the two franchises Pokemon and Nobunaga’s Ambition would be collaborating on a project, no one knew what to expect. Pokemon is all about collecting and raising hundreds of monsters in a journey to be the very best Pokemon trainer. Nobunaga’s Ambition, however, focuses on turn based strategic combat in an attempt to unify feudal Japan. Could two such different games such as these successfully mesh together? The answer is yes. Pokemon Conquest is the change of pace that Pokemon fans have been waiting for. By taking the qualities that make both series so lovable, Nintendo and Tecmo Koei were able to deliver one of the best gaming experiences on the DS. (more…)
As an avid Kingdom Hearts fan, I think I can speak for everyone when I say that we have been waiting far too long for the next installment of Sora’s journey. Even though Dream Drop Distance doesn’t come out for a little less than a month, Nintendo has kindly put up a demo of the game on the Nintendo 3DS’ eShop. But is it any good? Read on to find out! Today is a big day for Mass Effect fans; the free, extended ending DLC for Mass Effect 3 will be available for download for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. In case you haven’t heard, Mass Effect 3’s conclusion made many fans feeling disappointed, confused, and even betrayed. This new DLC isn’t exactly a new ending for the game, but rather an extension, giving players more dialogue options and showing the fate of many characters seen throughout the Mass Effect trilogy. But why did fans demand such an action to be taken? Lets go over the reasons as to why Mass Effect 3’s ending is the most controversial finale this generation of gaming has seen. (more…)
During the Nintendo Direct broadcast last night, IGN broke news confirming the rumors behind a brand new installment in the 3DS line: the 3DS Big Mac XL!
Differences between the 3DS XL and the original 3DS include:
90% larger screens on both the top lid and bottom
Increased battery life (3.5-6 hours compared to the 3DS’ 3-5 hours)
Two colors in the United States, red and blue.
Comes with an AC adapter and a 4GB SD card
It costs $30 more than the original 3DS.
As a current 3DS owner, all I can say is that…I’m confused.
Microsoft revealed its very first tablet device yesterday during it’s press event in Los Angeles, called Surface, and man does it look pretty. At first glance it looks like any other tablet: very flat with a large screen. In terms of aesthetics, however, what sets this tablet apart from all the iPads and Kindle Fires is its integrated kickstand. In the video above it seems that the kickstand simply snaps into place when needed, and folds back against the tablet just as easily. While this isn’t a major innovation, it certainly is a cool feature. There is also the 3 mm thick Touch Cover, which is showcased in the video. Rather than buying an overly priced cover and a keyboard for your tablet separately, Microsoft has kindly made them into one accessary. Available in an array of colors, the Touch Cover is more than just a keyboard attachment. Rather than using buttons, it uses a pressure sensitive system that allows the user to type much faster than using a standard touch screen.
Invites for the Dawnguard Beta were sent out this week, and out of the thousands of people who applied, only 0.5% of the applicants were accepted. Sadly, I was not among them. Ever since I first saw the trailer for the new Skyrim DLC, felt like an 8 year old waiting for Christmas morning. Luckily the tentative release date for the expansion is June 26, so I and all the other aspiring crossbow wielding vampires don’t have much longer to wait. But despite the hype, not too many people really know what the expansion is about. Here’s a quick overview of some of the things you can expect to see.
Two of the things that make Nintendo games so lovable are the magical worlds and the characters that inhabit them. I don’t know a single person who doesn’t like exploring Hyrule as Link or saving the Mushroom Kingdom with the Mario Bros. But gamers have been doing these same things with these same characters for over two decades. With a new Nintendo home console on the way, I say it’s time mix things up; I want to see new and original franchises and older ones that we haven’t seen in years. Here are some games that I think need to make a comeback. (more…)
I think Nintendo described the 3DS conference perfectly in this tweet from @NintendoAmerica. Many of the other conferences took time explaining features available to the console (such as expanding Miiverse, PS Wonderbook, etc.), but Nintendo only talked about the games for the entirety of their conference. Well done! Although a debatable too much time was spent with gameplay of certain games, I am very satisfied with what Nintendo brought to the table. Although my socks were not knocked off by this conference, I think they did a great job showcasing the upcoming games and showing that a Nintendo 3DS is a worthy investment. If you missed the streaming online, here are the highlights:
