Django Unchained is the newest movie from acclaimed director Quentin Tarantino, arriving in theaters Christmas day. It’s a western set in the deep south before the civil war, starring Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kerry Washington, and Samuel L. Jackson, among others. Apparently the movie will now be receiving the comic book treatment, with “Django Unchained” #1 set to launch on December 5th, the first of a five part series. Said Tarantino: “The comic will literally be that very first draft of the script. All that material that didn’t make the movie, all of that will be part of the piece. And I’m really excited about it.” Art for the series will be done by R.M. Guera, and the books will be published by DC comics. Here’s the trailer for the movie; click below to see the first and third covers of the series by Jim Lee and Massimo Carnavale, respectively.

The Complete “Invincible” Review: Part 1
Posted: October 3, 2012 by Curtis Hines in Comicology - Comic Books, Image ComicsTags: 100th issue, Image comics, Invincible, Robert Kirkman
In honor of the upcoming 100th issue of Invincible, the critically acclaimed superhero series by Robert Kirkman, I’m going to read it all for the first time. All of it. My journey will take me through hardcover collections, trade paperbacks, single issues, and more. My goal: to read and review the entire series before issue 100 drops in January. You might be interested and want to learn more about the book, or know the history so you can pick up issue 100, or maybe you just want to relive your Invincible favorite moments; for whatever reason, this is the article to read.
The Transformers: More than Meets the Eye #9 review
Posted: October 1, 2012 by Joel Kost in Comicology - Comic Books, IDWTags: IDW, Transformers
I’ve really started to grow fond of More than Meets the Eye (MTMTE). When it first released I was much more in to its counterpart, Robots in Disguise (RiD). Lately, however, I feel as though MTMTE has been able to deliver a much stronger narrative with stories that I actually care about, as opposed to the constant and tedious power struggles that the characters in RiD face. After reading issue #9, I’m officially hooked. It’s not perfect, but the wonderful story telling mixed with the constant mysteries that are thrown at the reader are just too hard to resist.

In the past, my experience with comics has heavily involved superheroes. I am also not known to jump into the middle of stories. However, as I have begun venturing into the worlds of other stories, I had the pleasure of stumbling across The Sixth Gun.

The Rocketeer Cargo of Doom #2 review
Posted: September 14, 2012 by Joel Kost in Comicology - Comic Books, IDWTags: Chris Samnee, IDW, Mark Waid, The Rocketeer
The Rocketeer is one of those comic book super hero series that fully embraces our silly, childhood fantasies. It takes outdated concepts and turns them into some of the greatest adventures ever to hit comics. Cargo of Doom #1 re-introduced both fans and newcomers of the series to the world of The Rocketeer, and it was one of the best comic books I read last month. The second issue of this series is no different, and continues to deliver the action, mystery, and laughs that The Rocketeer is so well-known and loved know for.
