Marvel Heroes focuses on crafting a unique, character-driven experience
Posted: March 29, 2013 by Joel Kost in Comicology - Comic Books, Gamenomics - Video Games, Marvel, Steam, PC, & Indie GamesTags: Gazillion Entertainment, Marvel Heroes, PAX East
The second you look at Marvel Heroes you may notice a stark similarity to Blizzard’s legendary RPG series Diablo. The camera gives the player an arial view of the map, there are hordes of enemies to defeat, and loot is randomly dropped by fallen baddies. Diablo has a clear influence on Gazillion Entertainment’s new MMORPG, but based on the 40 minutes I had with the game it’s clear that the team has a much different vision in mind.

Square Enix had a bunch of games featured at PAX East, but we were actually able to nail down an exclusive interview and see a hands-off demo of the upcoming Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX. For those that are fans of this series, but are confused on the order of the games, you may want to first read this blog that I wrote earlier explaining the order of the series. A hands-off demo means that Square Enix had a representative that showed us parts of the game. We were allowed to ask questions, but no photographs or video could be taken. We did learn a lot about the game though:

We don’t know too much about Transistor, but based off the trailer it looks like it play similarly to Bastion. Transistor will be shown at PAX East, so hopefully I’ll be able to check it out. In the mean time watch the trailer below, and get excited.
Ridiculous Fishing is the iOS game you never knew you wanted
Posted: March 19, 2013 by Joel Kost in Gamenomics - Video Games, Steam, PC, & Indie GamesTags: Billy, iOS, Ridiculous Fishing, Vlambeer

Billy uses ridiculous (get it?) methods to catch and shoot fish.
I’d like to introduce you to Billy. I don’t really know how old he is or where he’s from, but I do know that he likes fishing. However he doesn’t fish like everybody else. He doesn’t use fancy lures and live bait to reel in those pesky water-breathers. Instead Billy uses top-of-the-line fishing equipment complete with chainsaws, hairdyers, and toasters. Once he casts his line he tries to guide his lure to deepest depths of the ocean and catch as many fish as possible on the way up. He then throws them in the air and shoots them for money. Billy also enjoys posting on the social media tool Byrdr and updating his Fish-o-pedia log.

Next Assassin’s Creed may deal with pirates
Posted: February 26, 2013 by Joel Kost in Gamenomics - Video Games, Microsoft/Xbox, Sony/PlayStationTags: Assassin's Creed, Black Flag, Kotaku, Ubisoft
According to an article on Kotaku the next game in the Assassin’s Creed series will be titled Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and will deal with pirates.
Kotaku was tipped off by an anonymous source who sent a picture of a poster that shows a white-hooded man fighting a couple of pirates.
Ubisoft already announced that the next Assassin’s Creed game would feature a new character and setting and that it would appear during the next fiscal year.
So is this actually the next Assassin’s Creed game? Who knows. But I’m sure Ubisoft will share more with the world in coming months.
