Another comic book legend will soon appear on the small screen with the NBC series starring the once-con-man-now-detective character, John Constantine. Matt Ryan, known by Doctor Who fans in BBC’s “Torchwood” for his works in Showtime’s “The Tudors”, was recently released as the DC Comics‘ character John Constantine in new character photo below.

Hopefully not many readers will think of that Keanu Reeves 2005 flop Constantine, but rather the cunningly snarky antihero first introduced in the 1985 series the “Swamp Thing”.  From 1988 to 2013, Constantine made his way as a lead character in “Hellblazer” and finally his own character series “Constantine,” where he fights to protect Earth against dark forces.

Recently Walt Disney Co. and Netflix announced plans to bring four original live action series to the online TV network. Staring four of Marvel’s popular characters, the series include big names like Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage in the vicious world of Hell’s Kitchen, New York.

Produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC, this ambitious project, loosely acknowledged as the “Marvel Defenders project“, is raking up the bills.  Ah, but are we going to put a cost on the sheer awesomeness that these series are said to be? Sadly, yes. And it is a very large cost at that.

NBC’s Heroes is returning to the TV screen with thirteen new episodes with “a stand-alone story arc,”— a move which is receiving mixed emotions from fans. Will it be as epic as the first season or will it leave audiences feeling less than heroic like later seasons? Creator Tim King will return as executive producer and there will be a preceding web series to introduce new characters and story lines, along with some familiar old faces.

Last night, Jimmy Kimmel Live had the honor of premiering the world premiere full-length trailer of the upcoming film, Guardians of the Galaxy:

This is a really bold move for the Marvel Entertainment movie industry.  In the past, Marvel movies have been well-loved for their action, serious plot, and brilliant special effects.  However, at this point, most of the well-known characters already have films of their own.   Marvel movies are now moving towards lesser-known characters, so judging from the angle of the trailer, it appears Marvel is pairing action with comedy in Guardians of the Galaxy.  This approach is making me really excited for the upcoming film, set to release 1 August 2014.  Having a comedic action film hopefully will make Guardians of the Galaxy a light-hearteded, enjoyable film that can be watched by fans with any level of comic book knowledge.

Anime Boston 2014 recently announced Mike McFarland, director of Attack on Titan, as their guest of honor for the upcoming convention in March.  Shortly after that announcement, Anime Boston released some incredibly exciting new for the popular anime: FUNImation will be premiering the English dub of Attack on Titan at Anime Boston 2014.

Perhaps one of the most burning questions amongst Avatar: The Last Airbender fans was a question posed at the end of Book 3, where Zuko visits ex-Fire Lord Ozai and prison and asks, “Where is my mother”.  Fans were outraged that one of the most interesting stories within the series was left open-ended.  However, unbeknownst to many, the story of Avatar: The Last Airbender has been continuing in the form of a graphic novel series.  One of the most recent story arcs, a 3-part series entitled Avatar: The Search finally revealed the whereabouts and backstory of Zuko’s mother, Ursa.  Keep reading to find out what happened!
