When it rains, it pours, goes the old adage, one that has rung particularly true for Wade Wilson, aka Deadpool, and the folks at Marvel, this past week. Deadpool #27, released on April 9th, commemorates Deadpool’s marriage to Shiklah, an ancient succubus. While, of course, this is cause for celebration in itself, the cover of this “enormously oversized” and “most important issue” features a giant group pic of all of the event’s attendees, and thereby sports a stamp marking its place in the Guinness Book of World Records for “most comic book characters on a single issue cover”.

Netflix and Marvel: Live Action Defenders Series

Recently Walt Disney Co. and Netflix announced plans to bring four original live action series to the online TV network. Staring four of Marvel’s popular characters, the series include big names like Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage in the vicious world of Hell’s Kitchen, New York.
Produced by Marvel Television in association with ABC, this ambitious project, loosely acknowledged as the “Marvel Defenders project“, is raking up the bills. Ah, but are we going to put a cost on the sheer awesomeness that these series are said to be? Sadly, yes. And it is a very large cost at that.

Last night, Jimmy Kimmel Live had the honor of premiering the world premiere full-length trailer of the upcoming film, Guardians of the Galaxy:
This is a really bold move for the Marvel Entertainment movie industry. In the past, Marvel movies have been well-loved for their action, serious plot, and brilliant special effects. However, at this point, most of the well-known characters already have films of their own. Marvel movies are now moving towards lesser-known characters, so judging from the angle of the trailer, it appears Marvel is pairing action with comedy in Guardians of the Galaxy. This approach is making me really excited for the upcoming film, set to release 1 August 2014. Having a comedic action film hopefully will make Guardians of the Galaxy a light-hearteded, enjoyable film that can be watched by fans with any level of comic book knowledge.
Marvel Heroes focuses on crafting a unique, character-driven experience

The second you look at Marvel Heroes you may notice a stark similarity to Blizzard’s legendary RPG series Diablo. The camera gives the player an arial view of the map, there are hordes of enemies to defeat, and loot is randomly dropped by fallen baddies. Diablo has a clear influence on Gazillion Entertainment’s new MMORPG, but based on the 40 minutes I had with the game it’s clear that the team has a much different vision in mind.
The Wolverine International Trailer Release

Hey everyone! As I have said before, I am a huge X-Men movie buff. Although the movies may not be a totally accurate representation of the comics, I have always felt that they do a great job making superhero movies fun for all. Enjoy the trailer! The movie hits theatres July 26th, 2013.

Now that we are officially in 2013, and to keep up with our ‘Best of 2012’ blogs, I wanted to take a look back at the video games and comic books that made 2012 so awesome. In 2012, we saw some great video games, as well as some really big comic book events. The Wii U was released, DC’s New 52 is now in full force, and Marvel NOW! has continued to throw out some really big titles. Here is my breakdown of the ‘Best of 2012’:
